Nicolas Buob

Profile

Nicolas Buob studied law at the University of Zurich (BLaw and MLaw) and at King’s College in London (LL.M.) and graduated with two Master’s degrees in 2015. During his studies, he already worked in private banking at a major Swiss bank in Zurich. After completing his studies, he initially worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Private and Commercial Law at the University of Zurich and began his Dissertation in the field of commercial law. Nicolas Buob then worked as a junior associate in a large Zurich commercial law firm before joining our firm in 2017.

Nicolas Buob has been admitted as an attorney-at-law and notary public since 2018 and is registered in both the Register of Attorneys and the Register of Notaries of the Canton of St.Gallen. In 2019, his PhD was accepted by the Faculty of Law of the University of Zurich with the grade ‘cum laude’. In addition to his work as a lawyer and notary public, Nicolas Buob is a lecturer in business law at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) and a lecturer in private law at the University of St.Gallen (HSG).

Stumbling blocks in the (international) purchase of ships

Under the law of obligations, the purchase of a ship is a contract for the sale of goods pursuant to Art. 184 in conjunction with Art. 187 in conjunction with Art. 1 para. 1 CO.
