Update on the alleged cult leader case

On December 9, 2016, the Tages Anzeiger published the article “Wie verhext” (Like bewitched) on the criminal trial against an alleged cult leader (article).

On Wednesday, September 1, 2021, the main hearing finally took place in the aforementioned case, in which a woman is accused of having taken several million francs from her follower, represented by our partner att. Michael Kummer, by means of fraud, misappropriation, criminal mismanagement and forgery of documents. The private plaintiff argued that the accused manipulated her with such perfidious means that she was no longer able to make her own decisions and uncritically followed the accused’s instructions out of fear of being expelled from the alleged cult community. You can find more details in the press coverage.

The court of first instance, consisting of three judges, is now deliberating on the verdict.
